Recreation and Special Events Director
Seeking to fill newly created full time permanent position. Performs skilled work in planning, organizing, coordinating and promoting the Town’s festivals and events/functions, community activities, branding efforts, parks and beach front activities. This position is highly responsible and works independently; reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Town Manager.
Serves as a liaison for Mayor, Council, Manager and staff. Directs and consults Citizen Advisory Committees. Maintains active relations with the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Development Bureau, Board of Realtors, County Parks & Recreation, various civic groups and organizations. Oversees recreation operations and activities at Town Park and beach front. Oversees Town’s digital and social media, and public information via media outlets. Requires excellent communications skills, both oral and written, with ability to professionally represent the town when addressing groups and making presentations.
Desire Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in recreation, leisure services, event planning or related field; 2 to 5 years municipal/county government experience in recreation, special events or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
