    Mayor and Council

The Town of Atlantic Beach’s municipal government is comprised of five Council members and the Mayor. The Council members and Mayor are elected for two-year terms, elected at-large. The Mayor is the “Chairman” of the Town Council, and presides at all meetings, only voting to break a tie. When the Mayor is absent, the Mayor Pro Tem conducts meetings. The Mayor Pro Tem is appointed by the Town Council.

The Town Council meets in the Town Council Meeting Room at 125 West Fort Macon Road, on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Monthly Town Council work sessions scheduled on the second Wednesday (unless otherwise noted) of the month at 2:00 p.m., as well as called on an as needed basis and are publicized at least 48 hours in advance. All Town Council meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

The Town Council appoints the Town Manager and Town Attorney.

The Town Attorney acts as legal counsel for the Town, handling all legal matters that the town is a party to.

The Town Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town and oversees all Town Staff and Department Heads and day-to-day operations of the Town.
